A unique and historic collection of steam and motor boats. The Windermere Steamboat Centre houses the world's finest collection of Victorian and Edwardian steam- and motor-powered yachts and launches. Displays about Windermere's nautical history include the famous names of motorboat racing on the lake. In addition to the steam launches, the Windermere Steamboats & Museum is a treat for lovers of Arthur Ransome's Swallows and Amazons, as it also houses the original Amazon, and the twin screw steam yacht, TSSY Esperance, on which Ransome based Captain Flint's houseboat (allegedly).
Location For a great day out visit the Windermere Steamboats & Museum situated on the shores of beautiful Lake Windermere.
