Officially, it all takes place behind the regular covered market hall on the place de la Nouvelle Aventure. In reality, stalls spill round the corner and up side streets, with antiques, bric-a-brac and plain old tat laid out on doorsteps and pavements. Vast pans of paella, couscous and rows of rotisserie chicken around the fringes of the market inspire great picnics in the city's parks.
