The Tropical Butterfly Centre is located 30 kilometres west of Galway City and 4 kilometres from Rossaveal Harbour, right in the heart of Connemara. Within the lush grandeur of the tropical enclosure, you can view free-flying exotic butterflies in a simulated version of their natural environment. There is also a large selection of mounted arthropods from all over the world. When you have finished watching the butterflies, relax in the coffee bar or browse in the shop, where you can purchase framed butterflies, small paintings or locally made crafts. The centre is open to the public between May and September.
