About
The Museum of modern art and contemporary “the Slaughter-houses” is an establishment of the new type which offers a broad spectrum of activities. Within the framework of its missions of cultural public utility, the new responsibilities are inherited the old municipal Museum for modern art, the FRAC and the Center of contemporary art of Toulouse and the Midday-Pyrenees.

The museographic function has the role to preserve works of the collection and to animate it. The enrichment of the collection remains a priority. Its exploitation remains the privileged support of the cultural and teaching action.

The collection of the Slaughter-houses gathers 2000 works covering second half of the XXème century. It primarily consists of paintings, graphic works, and a small whole of sculptures and installations brought to develop.

This collection constitutes a whole unique in France resulting from the innovative project of the Slaughter-houses by the pooling of the collections and the programs of three structures which functioned in an independent way until 1994: the prefiguration of the museum of modern art, the FRAC the Midday-Pyrenees and a center of contemporary art.
