Ponta da Piedade is a headland to the south of Lagos, surrounded by fascinating rock formations in crystal clear seas. The sandy coves of Praia de Dona Ana and Praia do Camilo are sheltered and tucked away between high sandstone cliffs. The point is dotted with unusual sea caves which can be viewed by boat - choose a high shuttter speed to ensure sharpness.

Lagos, itself an attractive town with a new marina area, also contains historical buildings worth taking a look at, and its fortifications date back to the 8th Century in places.
