Built in the 14th century, this town hall has seen major restorations but retains its splendor.

Enter through the courtyard; then proceed up the steps on the right to the Communal Collection of Fine Arts (Collezioni Comunali d'Arte), which includes many paintings from the 14th- to 19th-century Emilian school.

Another section, the Museum of Giorgio Morandi (Museo di Giorgio Morandi), is devoted to the works of this famed Bolognese painter (1890-1964).

His subject matter (a vase of flowers or a box) might have been mundane, but he transformed these objects into works of art of startling intensity and perception.

Some of his finest works are landscapes of Grizzana, a village where he spent many lazy summers working and drawing.

There's also a reconstruction of his studio.
