Museu d Art Espanyol Contemporani Fundacion Juan March
The Juan March Foundation's Museum of Spanish Contemporary Art reopened in 1997, with newly acquired modern paintings. The works represent one of the most fertile periods of 20th-century art, with canvases by Picasso, Miró, Dalí, and Juan Gris, as well as Antoni Tàpies, Carlos Saura, Miquel Barceló, Lluis Gordillo, Susana Solano, and Jordi Teixidor. A room devoted to temporary exhibits was added to the restored museum. One series, for example, featured 100 Picasso engravings from the 1930s. The oldest and best-known work in the museum is Picasso's Head of a Woman, from his cycle of paintings known as Les Demoiselles d'Avignon. These works form part of the collection that the Juan March Foundation began to amass in 1973.
