The Museum of Notre-Dame Work is located in Strasbourg, beside the Palate of Rohan.

The museum is sheltered in a very beautiful whole of houses. That of left, with pinions in simple steps, is oldest (XIV E century), that of right-hand side, with pinion with volutes, dates as for it from the XVI E century. To the back, two other houses of the XIV E century and XVII E century supplement the unit.

The museum presents a whole of works of the Middle Ages and Rebirth. One can admire there stained glasses (of which that known as of the Christ of Wissembourg, oldest of France), many sculptures coming from the Notre-Dame Cathedral, the tapestries, the parts of goldsmitheries, many tables and retables and a garden containing of the medicinal plants used at the time.

The town of Strasbourg decides into 1931 to install a museum in the House of the Notre-Dame Work, built in 1347 and restored in the neighbourhoods of 1580, and which acts as seat of the administration of the goods of the cathedral and the cabin of the masons and stone masons employed at the building.

The statuary of the cathedral
The statuary of XIIIe century coming from the cathedral of Strasbourg constitutes one of the most prestigious sets of the museum. The sculptures for the majority were deposited at the time of the Revolution, where an edict imposed the destruction and the removal of the cathedral of any mark external of the worship.

The presentation of these chiefs of works of Gothic sculpture occupies the vastest room of the museum, installed on three levels of the Hotel of the Stag whose all the ceilings and all the interior partitions were removed.
