About
Dijon's Musee Archeologique displays many culturally and historically significant artefacts including Celtic jewllery, items from the Romanesque period, Gothic items and more. One of the museum most prized objects is the bronze respresentation of the goddess Sequana, which dates back to the 1st century AD.

Permanent collection
The collections of the archeological museum are displayed in the main wing of the former Benedictine abbey of Saint-Bénigne.
The massive aspect of the early 11th-century chapter house and scriptorium stands in sharp contrast with the more graceful elegance of the 13th-century monks' dormitory.

History:
The museum initially was an agent of the Gallo-Roman sculptures in re-employment in the walls of the castrum of Divio. It then accomodated the discoveries of the excavations carried out by the Commission of Antiquities of Coast-in Or with the sources of the Seine, Alésia and Vertault. The museum presents from now on a vast panorama of the presence of the man in the area.
