KEY SHOPPING STREETS

Union Street is Torquay's main shopping street where you can find high street brands like Next, BHS, Boots, Virgin Megastore and Dorothy Perkins. Hoopers and Debenhams are the town's two department stores, both located on the Waterfront. The Pavilions complex is next door where independently-run boutiques retail clothes, gifts, jewellery and crafts.

SPECIALIST SHOPPING

To browse for antiques and curios, as well as second-hand books, head to St Marychurch's main street, 15 minutes' walk north of the city centre.

MARKETS
Peruse fresh fruit and vegetables, crafts and knick-knacks in the indoor Market Hall (open daily) while every Saturday in December and the last Saturday in every month, Aberdeen's Country Fair (fresh produce, locally-made crafts) takes over the piazza at the Academy Centre.

SHOPPING HOURS
Shopping hours are 9am-5.30pm Monday to Saturday and 10am-4pm or 11am-5pm Sunday.

SHOPPING TIPS
For an old-style shopping experience, head to the pretty fishing port of Brixham (30 minutes' south of Torquay by bus). It has a traditional fish market and cobbled streets lined with art galleries, artists' materials and nautical antiques shops.
