Daroca is a Mudejar town 98km from Zaragoza on the N-330 road to Teruel. Daroca has many buildings which show its previous splendour. It is of Roman origin and had 114 towers with battlements (those of Puerta Baja are quite impressive). The church of Santa Maria was originally Romanesque and at the end of the 16th century it was enlarged to contain three naves. The main altar dates back to the 18th century. There is a reliquary (14th century) and the Sagrados Corporales, which, according to legend, turned to blood in 1239. The town of Daroca also had an important Jewish quarter.
