Cryptoportiques

About
The cryptoportiques ones form the base, the invisible part of the forum, places public power station of the Roman city. Forum arlésien itself, one knows few things.

There remains of its installation and its decoration only some elements which make it possible to date the beginning from work a few years only after the foundation of the colony, in 46 front J. - C. These foundations are intended to naturally stabilize the vast esplanade on an inclined ground. They are appeared as three galleries forming U open towards the east.

History
The construction of cryptoportic ensures a vast terrace having to support the forum, one of the first urban achievements of the new founded Roman colony into 46 Av.J.C. However remain in the northern gallery of the walls of the protohistoric time.
