The Churchill Square refurbishment and extension was completed in Sept 1998.

Now described as the South Coast's premier shopping centre, this one-time monument to 1960s bad planning has been torn down and re-built in late 1990s shopping mall style. Over 90 big name shops, including Debenhams, Habitat and Virgin Megastore, plus family restaurants and lively cafes are all under one roof, with inexpensive parking for 1,600 cars and a creche for the youngest children.
